Katharina Salzmann holds a PhD in German Linguistics (University of Pisa). Since April 2022 she has been an assistant professor at the University of Trento in German Language and Didactics. From 2018 to 2022 she worked at the Faculty of Education (Free University of Bozen-Bolzano) in the pre-school and primary school teacher training. Her research interests lie in the fields of (plurilingual) language acquisition in young children, German as a foreign language, cross-linguistic influence in third language acquisition and multilingualism in academic communication. She took part in a research project on multilingualism in the European Union and third language teaching and co-coordinated a project on first and plurilingual acquisition processes in the Ladin valleys in South Tyrol (Italy).
