From 15 to 19 May 2023, the DivA project partners from Slovenia, Italy, Vienna and Croatia met in Bressanone-Brixen for a highly productive meeting aimed at advancing our collaborative efforts. The meeting, which focused on key project activities, proved to be a significant step forward in designing the multilingual study course and the multilingual MOOC for in-service teachers.

The partners engaged in intense discussions and brainstorming sessions to refine and shape the project’s educational components. We aimed to develop an innovative study course on multilingual education based on cross-border collaboration and began planning the piloting phase of the course, which will begin in October 2023. We also prepared the outline for the MOOC on teaching in linguistically and culturally diverse classrooms, aimed at in-service teachers as a professional development course and at the general public.

One of the highlights of the meeting was the opportunity for the partners to familiarize ourselves with the multilingual school system in the South-Tyrolean Ladin valleys. The partners also visited a multilingual school in the region, gaining valuable insights into the approaches and challenges of implementing a successful multilingual education model. The visit provided inspiration and practical knowledge that would inform the project’s endeavours to promote multilingualism.

In addition to the school visit, the partners also explored the NOI techpark, a thriving hub for innovation and technology. The visit allowed us to witness firsthand the cutting-edge research and development taking place in the region.

To further enrich the meeting experience, the partners organized a series of LTT (Learning, Teaching, and Training) events in the form of engaging seminars and workshops. These events offered an opportunity for knowledge exchange, skill development, and interactive discussions among the project participants.

The project meeting in Bressanone-Brixen not only facilitated important progress in the development of the multilingual study course and MOOC but also fostered a strong sense of collaboration and shared purpose among the partners. We are already looking forward to the next project meeting, which will take place between 9 and 13 October 2023 in Vienna.
